Privacy notice
Last updated 31 July 2026
This notice explains what we do with the information you give us when you send us an asset list or sell us hardware. We Buy Servers is a trading name of PYCO RENEW LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 16774881, registered office Unit D13 Fieldhouse Industrial Estate, Fieldhouse Rd, Rochdale OL12 0AA, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for that information. Our registration with the UK Information Commissioner's Office is ZC018901.
Because we offer to buy hardware from businesses in the European Union, this notice is written to meet the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 as well as UK data protection law.
What we collect
- Enquiry details — your name, company, email address, phone number where you give one, the country and town the hardware is in, the asset list you send and anything you attach to it.
- Transaction details — where a sale goes ahead: the agreed list and price, collection address, bank details for payment and our purchase records.
- Identification — before we pay for hardware we take a copy of photo ID for the person or business selling to us.
- Technical information — the IP address and browser used to submit the form, recorded with the enquiry.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Valuing your list and replying to you | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — responding to a request you have made of us |
| Arranging collection and paying you | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Holding a copy of seller identification | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — preventing fraud and reducing the risk of handling stolen goods |
| Keeping purchase and payment records | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — tax and company record-keeping |
Where we rely on legitimate interests we have considered the impact on you. Checking who we are buying from is a proportionate step for a business that pays out for hardware, and we keep the identification separate from everything else and only as long as set out below.
How long we keep it
- Transaction records — six years, as required for UK tax and company record-keeping.
- Identification documents — twelve months from the date of the transaction, then deleted.
- Enquiries that do not lead to a sale — twelve months, then deleted.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. We share it only with:
- the courier or haulier collecting from you, with the collection address and contact name;
- our email provider, MailerSend, which delivers the messages sent by the form on this site;
- our bank, accountant and, where we are required to, a tax authority or other public body.
Transfers outside the EU
We are established in the United Kingdom, so the information you send us is transferred there and processed there. That transfer is made on the basis of the European Commission's adequacy decision for the United Kingdom, and if that decision ceases to apply we will put standard contractual clauses in place instead. Our hosting and email providers may process data in other countries under the same protections.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, ask for it in a portable form, or object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests. Email hello@webuyservers.eu and we will reply within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the data protection supervisory authority in the EU country where you live or work. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This site sets one cookie, a PHP session cookie, which exists so the form can check that a submission came from a page we served. It carries no tracking data, expires when you close your browser, and there is no analytics or advertising tag on the site. Because it is strictly necessary for the form to work, no consent banner is required for it.
