The models we buy
With ProLiant the generation is written on the machine, which makes life easier — a DL380 Gen10 says exactly what it is. The DL360 is the 1U workhorse and the DL380 the 2U, and between them they make up most of what we see.
| Generation | Rack models | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gen11 | DL360 Gen11, DL380 Gen11, DL385 Gen11 | Current. Strongest prices. |
| Gen10 Plus | DL360 / DL380 Gen10 Plus, DL325 / DL385 Gen10 Plus | Strong demand, AMD EPYC variants included. |
| Gen10 | DL360 Gen10, DL380 Gen10, DL325, DL385, ML350 Gen10 | The volume seller. Any quantity. |
| Gen9 | DL360 Gen9, DL380 Gen9, DL560 Gen9, ML350 Gen9 | Still worth real money, especially well-populated. |
| Gen8 | DL360p / DL380p Gen8 | Lower value per chassis; the CPUs and memory usually carry it. |
We also buy ML-series towers, Apollo density systems and Synergy frames with their compute modules. Older than Gen8, send it anyway and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth collecting.
What moves the price on a ProLiant
Two DL380s of the same generation can be a long way apart. Roughly in order:
- CPUs fitted. Core count and clock. High-core Xeon Gold and Platinum parts often outvalue the chassis they sit in.
- Memory. Leave the DIMMs in. Registered DDR4 in quantity is regularly the most valuable component in the machine.
- Drives and caddies. HPE smart carriers have value even empty. Tell us whether drives are staying with the machine or coming out.
- The storage controller. A Smart Array with cache and a healthy battery is worth listing separately — it is often missed.
- PSUs. Dual supplies beat a single, and a machine with none is worth noticeably less.
- Rails and bezels. Cheap to keep, easy to lose, and they add up across a rack.
Not sure which generation you have? A photo of the front bezel or the serial label tells us — send that instead of a spreadsheet if it is quicker.
Send your listWhat we do not buy
We buy hardware that was working when it came out of service, because we sell it on to be used again. We do not buy machines that are faulty, dead or untested. If something arrives that does not power on, we will tell you and either revise that line or return it at our cost.
How the sale runs
- Send the list. Generations and quantities. A rough list is fine.
- We price it per unit, in writing, usually within one working day.
- We collect. Free and insured, from your site, at a time that suits you.
- You get paid in euro by SEPA transfer once the delivery is checked in against the agreed list.
