Cisco Meraki hardware is cloud-managed and does nothing without a licence, and it must be released from your dashboard before anyone else can claim it. Kit still tied to a dead organisation is worth a fraction of kit released properly. It takes minutes and it is the single biggest thing you can do to protect the value.
What we buy
| Type | Makes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Access points | Meraki MR, Aruba AP, Ruckus, Ubiquiti, Cisco | Strong steady demand, usually in volume. |
| Switches | Cisco Catalyst and Nexus, Meraki MS, Juniper EX and QFX, Aruba | Port count, speed and PoE budget set the price. |
| Routers | Cisco ISR and ASR, Juniper MX, Zyxel, 4G and 5G units | Current-generation edge and cellular move fastest. |
| Firewalls | Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto | Support and subscription state affects value. |
| Transceivers | SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+, QSFP28 — 1G to 100G | Worth far more collectively than expected. |
| InfiniBand | NVIDIA Mellanox Quantum, ConnectX | Niche but valuable, demand currently strong. |
Licensing is what catches people out
- Meraki — the hardware is inseparable from a dashboard licence. Devices must be removed from your organisation so the next owner can claim them.
- Fortinet and Palo Alto — the box works, but threat feeds and support are subscription-based and generally do not transfer.
- Cisco — smart licensing on newer Catalyst platforms travels less cleanly than it used to.
Optics and transceivers
A box of SFPs is one of the easiest things in a decommission to turn into money, and one of the most commonly overlooked. They ship for almost nothing and there is constant demand. Note that transceivers are usually coded to a vendor: a Cisco-coded module and a Juniper-coded one of identical specification sell to different buyers at different prices.
Not sure what you have? A photo of the rear label carries the full part number on almost all network kit.

What we do not buy
We buy hardware that was working when it came out of service, because we sell it on to be used again. We do not buy units that are known faulty or are being sold untested.
